Jean Lowry was captured by Delaware Indians at McCord's Fort,
which lead to the Battle of Sideling Hill three days later.
After 3 years of captivity and slavery she
was freed and wrote a journal of her experience.
Originally published in 1760, it soon became
rare and remained so until it was republished in 2008 by the
Conococheague Institute.
Hayes Eschenmann began his search for the location
of the battle in the early 1990's. In 1997 he wrote his monograph
identifying the site of the battle.
